Born 1954 in Miami Beach,
Florida. Damien Shindelman took up the
oboe in high school and attended North Carolina School of
the Arts from 1970 through 1976 where he received his High
School Diploma and a Bachelors Degree in Performing Arts.
His oboe instructors include John Mack, principal oboe from
the Cleveland Orchestra and Joe Robinson, principal oboe
with the New York Philharmonic. Damien has been a
member of the Phoenix Symphony for the past 31 years and
most recently become personnel manager for the group as
well. Damien has played with various ensembles including
the Atlanta Orchestra, Charlotte Symphony, Winston Salem
Symphony and the Sienna Music Festival in Italy.
Damien resides in Glendale Arizona and his interests
include his Pomeranian "Teddy Bear" gardening, and passion
for travel.
