Glenn Stallcop

has had a distinguished career as a composer, double
bassist, and pianist. He has lived in Arizona since
becoming a double bassist with the Phoenix Symphony in
1973. The PSO has performed nine different works of
his over the last 30 years. His many works for double
bass are performed around the country, and his Vision
Quest won the 2004 David Walter Composition prize from
the International Society of Bassists. As a pianist,
he performs his own works and is especially active in free
improvisation. He was nominated for a Grammy for his
solo piano improvisation CD, Dreamcatcher in 1998.
He founded and directed the Arizona Composers Forum
from 1983-89, and was awarded the Performing Arts
Fellowship in Composition from the Arizona Commission on
the Arts in 1995.
